i know i harp on this on like a weekly basis but i still kind of think emma dating peter after that happened is worse. idk, i know emma wasn’t like, distributing child pornography for revenge, i’m not a philosopher, i can’t justify it, just a gut feeling. dante would agree with me though, i’m pretty sure. he put traitors like two circles lower than regular murderers. according to dorothy sayers’s notes, this is because betrayal, which requires first creating a trusting bond, is a uniquely human sin, which… someone else came up with that idea and dante liked it, so being a traitor is the worst thing you can do because it’s using something god gave only humans to do bad things. so dante would agree with me that emma’s the worst. i think i just made myself like dante about a hundred percent more.

also like, look here at emma being able to use the OBJECTIVE HORRIFYINGNESS of that whole ordeal as like, a means to an ends which this time happens to be in manny’s favor, like she never totally ignored it in order to make out with this guy, ugh i hate herrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Oh, yes, yes, excellent points - Peter was very obvious about hurting Manny - he always knew that it was a terrible and awful thing and, well, that’s exactly why he did it. He stood right in front of her and emailed out the video, being very explicit about his horribleness throughout the whole thing.

Whereas Emma lied to Manny for as long as she could. She even co-opted Manny’s thirst for revenge as a way of getting back at Peter for rejecting her flirtations (yes, let’s us dwell on the fact that she was still crushing on him at this point, post-video release, post-Manny getting kicked out, post-school wide slutshaming). She kept the relationship under wraps until she absolutely had to.

So, Manny knew very early on what kind of person Peter was - he was a snake and it hurt when he bit her but couldn’t have been too surprising - but throughout all of Peter and Emma’s secret relationship, Manny is doing homework with Emma, sleeping in her room, sharing her clothes and gossip and hopes and dreams, and thinking this girl is her best friend, would never hurt her, would even let her move in and take care of her during her darkest time - how many times did Manny hug Emma while she was secretly dating Peter? How many times did Manny turn to Emma for comfort? Cry in her arms? Thank her for being such a good friend? And how many times did Emma accept these tokens of friendship then go off to secretly make out with the guy that ruined Manny’s life?

i was LOOKING FOR THIS POST FOR AGES. @getdownliberty i know you think ashley is the worst, but honestly, emma takes the cake for this alone. ashley is up there on the ain’t shit scale but emma fucking nelson…is the worst for me. i have no clue what she did to deserve a friend like manny but this always pissed me the hell off. for her to be a “feminist” this was extremely anti-girl for her to do.

gossip girl here, everyone’s favorite god-like stalker. for some reason, i have dedicated all my time and chanel-scented energy to documenting the scandalous lives of 4 rich, entitled teenagers and 3 “poor” kids from brooklyn who sometimes end up interacting with them. i know where they shop, the street corners of where they hail cabs and even some of the petty crimes they commit—blair, you little winona in training!—yet nobody is freaked out when i post these things on my pre-perez hilton blog. just goes to show that even in the early 2000s, everyone wanted to be famous via social media, even if it did include an invasion of privacy. who knew that in 2007, the creator of the o.c. would set out to do new york version of his hit show, complete with extraneous plots surrounding our favorite antiheroes’ parents. yawn. i’d much rather focus on how my favorite sexual assaulter, C, attempts rape on both S and J in the first episode! how dramatic. because i am also an antihero, i don’t bore you with how problematic it is that little J or S act like nothing ever happened or that he is eventually treated as a sympathetic character. in my world, he just becomes gay. hey, a girl needs a shopping buddy when she can’t decide between the sigerson morrison kitten heel flats or the manolo blahnik four inch stilettos. after all, we do have social events to attend, boyfriends to catch cheating on us, college admissions interviewers to kiss, lavish ski trips to go on, drugs to do, and most importantly, hearts to get broken, because, let’s face it: N is the true definition of a fuckboy, but if he weren’t so generically attractive, it’d actually be a bad thing. anyways, i’m off to run errands. a girl needs to restock her kiehl’s skincare, get a new kate spade tote, grab a new battery for my nokia 3310, pick up her new hermes scarf and get her hair trimmed at elizabeth arden. it may not be easy to live this consequence-free life of excessive pampering and endless wealth, but someone’s gotta do it. until next time, you know you love me. xoxo, dan humphrey.

Yeah, no, I’m cross-tagging because the lack of attention this is getting overall is pissing me off.

Ajit Pai killed Net Neutrality. You’ll start seeing the effects you were warned about on April 23rd. Oh, and he apparently got an award for Courage from the NRA gun nuts, too.

You can still help by calling your senators and representatives. We just need ONE MORE PERSON on our side to get the senate portion of Congress to overrule the FCC’s decision to kill net neutrality. The battle for the net won’t end there, but it’s a start. Go to battleforthenet to find out who your reps are and where they stand, and CONTACT THEM.

Twenty-three states are also suing the FCC for this. I haven’t looked into it yet, but I assume big businesses like Google and Amazon are as well. Nevertheless, we can’t rely on lengthy lawsuits alone. The changes to your internet start in less than two months. We don’t have a whole lot of time.

Blow this up. Contact your reps. Please, do something! We HAVE to get the decision overruled!

Courtney Love has the same effect on white girls that Eminem had on white boys in the suburbs in the early 2000s - all of a sudden these privileged middle and upper middle class kids can be edgy and live vicariously through them and exploit POC coded narratives of struggles they don’t have and then go back to living unaffected. Girls that have never been on the streets and have never even had to THINK about sex work repping a rich child who told a cinderella fairy tail about how she stripped for money w/ a small trust fund and who somehow wound up famous.

It’s a critique on the social phenomena based on which niche was her target audience and why. There’s a nasty micro-aggressive racist reason WHY they chose THIS specific photo to represent that she was in ‘juvie.’ (x). If that black girl wasn’t there then no one would actually believe she had any criminal background based on that. It’s like when teams have people like Iggy Azalea or similar white wigger-like entertainers have their music videos in low income black and latinx neighborhoods or make their image ‘black/latinx implied’. You know its just atmosphere but you’re absorbing the message that they’re edgy by association because people associate brown and black folks with violence. You also figure that the corn rows, grills, big hoop earrings etc are just ‘quirky costumes’ but in reality its just meant to associate them with the former again.

It’s subtle, but everything about marketing is purposeful. If you put it together, you see why people are so affected by Courtney’s image including juvie and stripping. It’s black and brown associated and evidenced from people like Kylie Jenner, people have always thought that wonder-bread whiteness seeming black or latinx is a million dollar combination.

Because all of a sudden in the 90s you had white suburban girls getting false access to these narratives that disproportionally affect black and brown women systematically in a cute cookie-cut-out way that they can mimic. And similar white girls to this day do the same thing with Kylie Jenner. You’re appropriating the experiences of an entire group of people marketed a shtick through people like Courtney if you want to be ‘like’ them. She gaslights her fans to be like her, yes, but there’s also a problem with….the need for white girls in particular to equate that narrative with being badass when they DON’T do the same for black and latinx artists. And it explains why Courtney is associated with these life experiences and others are not, especially when she’s never lived them herself, her fans included.

It’s not only racist on her part, it screams of a much deeper issue we’ve been saying time and time again that this niche has with being racist as well.

they’ll pretend they’re radical, but depend heavily on racism. see literally any “feminist” film centered around white girls, from “Times Square” to “diary of a teenage girl”. there’s always a point in these films where they alienate anyone who isnt white. and often times, have a slur mantra which has absolutely nothing to do with the films plot.

they “rebel” by acting exactly like their racist shit uncle/daddy’s. and no amount of adult sized childrens clothing, flower crowns, and glitter is enough to defend it

Like even if it’s made up PR to sell fake-feminism, what the girls walk away with is this idea that feminism is equated with whiteness and the fanbases become even more white gate-keeped than they are already.

It’s a greater symptom of radicalism being stolen from black people and poc artists, activists, and entertainers and commodified for white suburban culture.
